HILTON SECRETS REVEALED Lazy Traveler Handbook Book 3 eBook Andy Shuman Reviews
I read the first edition that helped me getting started in the great miles & points game. Andy makes it easy to understand how it works and why you don't have to be scared to apply for multiple credit cards. And he does it with humor that's never a bad thing ;-)
A few days ago I got a message from telling me that the book had been updated. I finally got to read it today. Andy didn't let me down. He updated the book with the new Hilton award chart and how that affects us, ehm i.e. the point junkies -P
I suggest this book mainly for who's new to this game even though I found very useful going over some things when to use VIP over AXON and some great suggestions for outstanding properties where to spend these points. Because that's the bottom line, you collect the points to spend them in great places you couldn't afford otherwise!
I always knew about getting bonus points by signing up for credit cards however I had no idea it could be taken this far. The author claims he always manage to vacation around the world for free or almost free. After reading this book I have no doubt he is doing just that. You have to plan ahead as it will take you several months to get the points needed, but if you apply the information offered in this book, you and your family can look forward to a great, almost free, 2-3 week luxurious vacation next summer. There are a couple of requirements. You have to be a US citizen or resident and you will need a good credit score. Other than that it's just about getting started.
This book is an easy short read. It is well worth the price and time it takes to go through it. If you like to travel this book is a must have!
As a hilton hhonors i thought it might show me something different but it did not if you do so research you will find the same information online as he wrote it in the book but he goes about it a different way. here is the book in a nut shell go online find a hilton hhonors credit card. the credit cards are from american express and citi visa card look them over and see which one is best for you in the book he does list more credit cards and he explain's how they work with the hilton hhonors system but those 2 are the one's that do have the hilton hhonors logo on them and work with the points system so he suggest you apply for the credit card once you get them use them to get points on your purchase and pay them on time he chose to use a chase amtrak card he book trips on it and got points for doing that through amtrak then he transfer those points over to his hilton hhonors points he explains how they all work but if you are willing to do the research online you will find the same information as he puts in the book. or do i what i do and that is sign up for hilton hhonors rewards program which is free to do so you start out with the blue then get email blast that they send you and tell you when they are having a discount weekend or triple points weekend then find one stay OR!!!!! go to the hilton hhonors sight and just buy points right now it is 1,000 points for $12.50 but what if you wont to spend a $100.00 you get 8,000 points or if you spent $400.00 dollors you get 40,000 points so in the book he "write's at this point you have spent $423.00 on credit card annual fees and $200 on amtrak travel and now you have 580,000 points" well i dont know about you but i reather just get a no annual fee card and buy points it has work for also note this you dont have to get a huge suite when booking if you are a honors member you can upgrade cheap and get discount at some places on interneat and valet for example i book at a hilton honors rate a hilton normel king room for $79.00 got a upgrade to a suite for $10.00 more with free internet and breakfast so one night it cost me tax and all $100.00 to stay at a suite at a hilton with free breakfast.not bad being a hilton hhonros member all i did was what i wrote above just buy points and use a no anuual fee creadit card to book your hotel with so you can get points to
Good intro to the Hilton Honors program, especially for those who are new to the points game. Would have been beneficial to go more into definitions and explanations of AXON vs. VIP points, though. Also could stand a little more polish in copy editing and proofreading. If not for these last two issues, would have given it a 4-star.
I gotta say I already had the author's book "Travel Free, 2nd Edition", and I really can't say I found much of anything new in this book. Also, there's a tremendous amount of "fluff" in this book. The useful information in this book could have been reduced, literally, to about five pages. The author's Travel Free book is a good purchase. This one, not so much.
Very informative, plan to use techniques author revealed, but would have liked to see more about how to use the points other then lodging and some airline information, however, much value added compared to looking into the Hilton Honors website, I would recommend this Ebook for anyone who enjoys traveling.
